昔、堂坂近くの松の大木に大きな白蛇が棲んでいたのじゃが、
松の木を切る際、知らずに一緒に蛇も切ってしまったそうじゃ

この石神像は、白蛇の魂を鎮め弔う為に祀ったものだそうじゃ。
